As we prepare for the new school year, our main goal is to make sure every student has a positive, safe, and welcoming place to learn and grow. We believe students learn best when our schools are safe. This includes digital safety.
The world of technology is constantly evolving, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly making its way into K-12 education. At MTSD, we recognize that we must teach students how to use AI appropriately while also keeping them safe. To prepare for AI, we have developed a set of Beliefs, Principles, and Practices for our district. This framework is attached to this message. As we continue on the AI journey, we will actively seek your feedback on our beliefs, principles and practices and make adjustments as needed. Throughout the year, we will also share resources to help you support your children’s learning and use of AI technology.
As part of the AI engagement process, we have created an "Opt In/Out" form specifically for student use of AI tools, ensuring that you have a voice in AI developments. Please fill out one form per student.

Dear Members of the Milton Community
In light of the social media discussion and misinformation regarding MTSD Policy C28: Transgender and Nonconforming Students, I am writing to you to provide a broader context and accurate information.
VT has extensive legal protections for transgender and nonconforming individuals banning discrimination based on gender identity in employment, public accommodations , education, housing and insurance including 9 V.S.A. 4502 which protects all students from discrimination, C28 aligns with these laws.
VT schools have had policies and practices in place regarding Transgender and Non-conforming Individuals since 2010. This includes athletic team access.
C28 has been a policy in the MTSD since 2021.
The C28 policy revisions that were voted on at the September 11, 2025 Board meeting were necessary to align the existing policy with current laws and involved removing outdated language related to Title IX.
All students in the MTSD have access to bathrooms and locker rooms that provide single stall privacy. These accommodations have been in place since renovations were done to MMS and MHS over 10 years ago.
In terms of athletic teams, the VT Principal Association is the governing entity for rules of play regarding transgender and non-conforming students.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the many organizations in Milton offering sports, clubs, and activities for both youth and adults.

MES staff are came together in a Puzzle Painting Project—each creating a unique piece of art that came together as one big mural. 🎨 The finished puzzle will hang proudly in our elementary cafeteria as a daily reminder that every individual plays an important role in our school community.

School Bus Routes & Times
The 2025–26 school bus routes for Milton Schools are now posted on our new website. Some afternoon drop-off times are still being confirmed by our bus company, and we’ll update those as soon as they’re finalized.
Important:
Our buses run two separate schedules — one for Middle School & High School students, and another for Elementary School students. Please make sure you’re viewing the correct set of routes for your student(s).
Pickup and drop-off times are approximate and may vary during the first few weeks of school as routes are adjusted.
Students should be at their bus stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.
If your child is new to the bus, please review bus stop safety and rules with them before the first day.
