Yesterday was the MHS Day of Service
In recognition of the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks, MHS students honored the day by giving back to the community. Their service included raking, cleaning up local cemeteries, supporting Camp Takumta, and lending a hand to other local organizations in need of assistance.

🧩✨ Coming together, piece by piece!
MES staff are came together in a Puzzle Painting Project—each creating a unique piece of art that came together as one big mural. 🎨 The finished puzzle will hang proudly in our elementary cafeteria as a daily reminder that every individual plays an important role in our school community.

MTSD Affected Family
From: Amy Rex, Superintendent
I am writing to you today regarding a difficult situation impacting a family within our school community. A recent event involving a family connected to our district is circulating on the news, and we want to acknowledge the concern this may be causing for many.
Our priority is always the well-being of all our students and their families. At MTSD, we are committed to fostering a supportive environment where every scholar feels known and empowered to thrive, and where their unique stories, dreams, and strengths are valued. In challenging times, our strength lies in coming together as a community to care for one another.
In times when a school family is experiencing an unusually difficult situation or is in crisis, we have teams that provide a variety of direct support. We understand that many in our community may also wish to offer their support. If you are seeking ways to help this family, please contact my office directly.
We will continue to navigate these times with compassion and strength, ensuring that our schools remain places of hope, opportunity, and joy for all. We appreciate your understanding and your dedication to the well-being of our entire school community.

Education Transformation Bill Floor Vote Monday
This letter provides an update on the Education Transformation Bill, H.454, which is scheduled for a floor vote on Monday. We understand that discussions around this bill have been complex, and we want to keep you informed about its contents and implications.
The conference committee completed its work on Friday and is presenting a bill for a floor vote Monday! If you want to exercise your voice, contact your Milton Legislators to encourage how they vote. Here is the H.454 Summary. While below are some key areas of discussion regarding H.454:
Areas of concerns that have been raised in the development of the H454 include:
There are concerns that the proposed foundation formula might lead to decreased revenues for some districts, potentially necessitating an increase in property taxes, or significant tax rate increases in other districts without guaranteed additional funding.
While the bill includes extensive language on school construction, there is currently no dedicated revenue source outlined to fund these capital improvements, which are a significant cost driver.
The bill proposes moving from a census block grant to weighted categories for special education disabilities. The potential impact of this change, without sufficient prior modeling, is a noted concern.
The bill includes certain provisions and concessions related to independent schools that have been part of the recent negotiations and may directly impact the funding available to local public schools. Examples include:
Independent schools will not be held to the same standards as public schools under this bill.
Designated independent career and technical schools will be permitted to set the cost of tuition to sending districts which will draw from Districts allocated funds under the foundation formula.
The bill also addresses other areas, including:
A move toward a statewide school calendar and consistent graduation requirements is aimed at improving access and alignment, particularly for Career and Technical Education students.
The bill includes a homestead exemption aimed at reducing property tax liability for low and moderate-income households, though its application is limited to property values up to $425,000.
