Our Preparation
The MTSD, in partnership with Milton public safety agencies, is prepared to respond to a critical incident or violent intruder in or near our schools. We have a thorough Emergency Response Plan which includes:
Established response procedures and ongoing staff training.
Student education on emergency responses.
Regular drills for practice by students and the school community.
Our Drills
Please note there has been a change in the number and types of drills. The District must conduct 6 drills, including
Options-based (ALICE) Drills: These will happen in September 2025 and January 2026. Families will receive 24 hours advance notice.
Emergency Egress Drills (Fire, Evacuation and/or Relocation): If a relocation drill is to occur, families will be notified 24 in advance
What Families Should Do During an Emergency
Your cooperation is vital in an emergency. We ask that you trust in the preparedness of the school and first responders.
Please follow these guidelines:
Do not come to the school. A large number of people arriving will severely interfere with emergency personnel.
Do not call the school. Telephone lines must be kept open for emergency communication only.
How We Will Communicate
We will share information and updates via our Mass Communication System (MCS). You may receive voice, text, and/or email messages. These messages will also be posted on our “live feed” feature which can be viewed via the MTSD app. We will send up-to-date information as necessary.
Student Reunification
In the event of a critical incident and full relocation of all students, Instructions on how and when to reunite with your child(ren) will be shared through our Mass Communication System (MCS).
Reunification may take place at the school or another community facility.
If relocated, students will be transported by bus to a designated family reunification site once all students are accounted for.
Reunification will be conducted according to our procedures.
Students will only be released to their legal parents/guardians at the reunification site.
