I'm Jerry Metcalf the school board chair has this year the students have been more focused and more than they were last year although it's wonderful to see this newfound energy and happiness the impact of the pandemic on student learning and social emotional well-being still lingers in this video you learned about some of the innovative ways our district as lifting student learning as well as what's included in this year's budget proposal the administration's fiscal responsible and educationally sound budget addresses our needs while decreasing indication homestead tax rate the Melting Pot District continues to work towards increasing literacy and math proficiency effectively meeting the social National help the students in providing students with more of a personalized learning opportunity my name is Colleen Crowley I'm one of the Early Childhood special educator and the preschool program this year we've had the opportunity to use a new curriculum creative curriculum on one of its focus is us is on literacy we often will read books multiple times and then we asked the students to retell the stories and sequence the events of the stories we make it more meaningful and fun by using props I'm as well as visuals and these are skills that we're looking for the students to grow and continue using as they move into Elementary School although the district continues to benefit from the one-time after Grant funds to support additional services in Reading Mass playing in summer programming These funds are only available for one more year as a result the fy20 for proposed budget includes three positions currently funded through after these positions are in elementary school reading specialist a middle-level health teacher and a teacher for the high school Innovation Center adding these teachers to the general fund will address the unique needs of our Learners and enhance each school's educational program a significantly high on Leslie Reed I know what to do in fourth and I'm Lindsey Bolger and we already reading specialist at Milton Elementary School we have the pleasure of being in kindergarten this year we are pushing into classrooms it's very exciting we are meeting student needs through a variety of different structures we sometimes have a whole group lesson we take small groups we work with targeted students and our goal is to prevent future reading Circle so that when they get into older grades like 3rd 4th grade they no longer have any reading difficulties I'm finna antonovich on the flexible learning lab coordinator for Milton Middle School in one of the things we introduced this year we're clubs I'm students select their clubs they can range from net games to Gob to sewing and they get to experience working with other students grades 528 and maybe learning something new is Milton High School is poised to continue building capacity for youth voice and Leadership through the lens of three establish advisory councils in learning restorative practice and equity and justice of the curriculum group here in Milton High School sing on teaching and the information a better ways to pick their classes and understand the curriculum that goes with them and so far we've decided to interview a couple students of selected electives that we think that Rising Juniors and seniors will be interested in so we're working on interviewing suit and teachers to help other students better understand the classes that they're taking I'm Avery and we're with the restorative practices group and our goals for this year are to travel to the Tas we're working on strengthening relationships and also having difficult conversation so we're just trying to awareness about the resources that we have in school to raise awareness about the anonymous tip line and other resources. Talk to you about fy20 for and the budget really have three challenges coming up for this year's number one health insurance going up by twelve point 6% well don't like that but we've got absorbed that cost somewhere also for a special ed block funding grant our Revenue coming in is going to be 4.9% less than last year I had an increase in the number of equal eyes pupils were some things on the positive front State education fund they threw some money for property taxes and also because of the reappraisal rcla went up to 107 but because of the factors of the CLA and the State throwing money property taxes the tax rate for f y 24 is actually expected to go down by $0.01 we're going from one point one 85721 point 17574 the tax rate this year is estimated to go. buy $0.01 and that of course is just the education portion of your tax rate is called your homestead right hi my name is Jen Wilson I am a school board trustee as well as the clerk for the Milton Town School District School Board during the 2021 to 2022 school year the Milton Town School District was engaged in a facilities Master planning process with truexcullins this included a full evaluation of the conditions of each of and I'm visioning process to help track next steps for the building projects as a result of our visioning process several projects were prioritised for Milton High School including new energy-efficient windows that were paid for capital reserve fund and New Heating and cooling air ventilation system for the classroom the auditorium and the library all of this was paid for from Recently awarded competitive Grant funds due to the condition Milton Elementary and Middle School located on Herrick Avenue it was decided to develop a committee to look more closely at options for a major renovation or rebuild the committee will bring proposals to the Milton Town School District Emma Nelson Community further this frightened for the future and future many Community with your support the work we are doing today will result in bright future for our town Tuesday March 7th is tell meeting day if you want to go earlier by mail he can call the town office at 893-6655 to request your ballot
