FYI/REMINDERS
High School Attendance: Daily attendance will be checked on all high school student-athletes. If a student-athlete is not at school or shows a history of repeated tardiness or absences to classes - the student-athlete may not be eligible to participate in practices or games/meets until they work out a plan with the Athletic Director.
High School Grade Checks: The Department of Athletics will run grade checks on our high school student-athletes athletic eligibility next week. Here is what you can expect:
On Tuesday, 4/7 - grades will be run. Any student-athlete with a failing or incomplete grade, will receive an email from Marcel (along with their guardian) notifying them of their failing/incomplete grade(s). There is no disruption to their athletic eligibility at this time.
On Friday, 4/10 - grades will be run again. Students who still had a failing/incomplete grade in the class(es) that were identified on Tues -will receive a 2nd email from Marcel (along with their guardian) notifying them that they are required to attend academic study hall on Monday 4/13 from 2:30–3:00pm (in room 136) for the week of 4/13 or until passing. Anyone still failing when we return from the April break, will continue in study hall 4/27-5/1.
For student-athletes in “phase 1”, there is no disruption to their athletic eligibility at this time - as long as:
They attend the required study hall. This is not optional. If at any time, study hall is skipped, without prior approval - the student-athlete will not be eligible to participate in practices or games/meets.
At any time if the student-athlete can show evidence of their passing grade to the Department of Athletics, they may stop attending study hall.
If a student-athlete moves into “phase 2” it may result in loss of athletic eligibility.
If you have any questions about this process, please direct your questions to Marcel.
