Re: 2026-2027 School Year Calendar Change
Greetings All
I am writing to inform you that the Champlain Valley Superintendents have made a change to our regional calendar.
VT law requires superintendents within a region to adopt a common school year calendar by April 1. This calendar is the frame for all of Chittenden county. It creates parameters while also allowing for some flexibility in accordance with the statute and state rules for district superintendents to add days and incorporate early release time. Rarely are changes made to the calendar after April 1. However, several Districts received feedback from their communities and requested we reconsider two student days. The changes to have November 10 and March 10 as non-student days was approved by the regional superintendents with one exception for which that superintendent requested and received a waiver.
To accommodate the change in the MTSD calendar, we swapped out inservice days for student days. The change is outlined below:
October 22 is now a student day. It was initially a teacher in-service day.
November 10 no students only teachers (in-service)
March 10 no students only teachers (in-service)
March 26 is now a student day. It was initially a teacher in-service day.
