COVID-19 Information

My child has tested positive for COVID-19.  Now what?
 
MTSD follows guidance from the Vermont Department of Health in relation to COVID-19 and isolation guidance.   
 
IF YOU TEST POSITIVE

Stay home and isolate for 5 days.

  • You can leave your home after day 5 if your symptoms have improved AND you have had no fever for at least 24 hours without the use of medicine that reduces fevers.
 
My child is a close contact to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.   What do we need to do? 
 

If you are a close contact or think you had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, follow the guidance below.

 

IF YOU:  PUBLIC HEALTH RECOMMENDATION:
Are up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines
 If you develop symptoms at any time, get tested. 
 
 
IF YOU:  PUBLIC HEALTH RECOMMENDATION:
Are NOT up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines or are not vaccinated
  • No earlier than day 4, take two antigen tests 24 hours apart (or longer) OR
  • On or after day 5 take a PCR or LAMP test
  • During this time, your child can still come to school 

    If you develop symptoms at any time, get tested.

The MTSD is committed to the health and safety of all members of the learning organization, the social and emotional well being of students and staff, and ensuring that all students have equitable access to a high-quality teaching and learning experience. In reopening our schools amid the COVID19 global pandemic, we will be prioritizing the public health of our community.
We want all children and staff back at school. In order to do this as safely as possible, we will align our reopening with recommendations from the Vermont Department of Health and Agency of Education. We will continue to work closely with our State and Regional partners and make decisions informed by science and State epidemiological data. Our plan for reopening school will allow us to be nimble and move quickly to respond to the changing trajectory of the virus.

The COVID19 situation continues to rapidly evolve. Information shared by the MTSD is subject to change based on new scientific data and guidance provided to us by the VT Agency of Education (VT AOE) and the VT Department of Health (VTDH).

The purpose of this page is to provide you with guidance on COVID-19 practices within our district.   Please note that this is subject to change based on current data, trends and guidance from the Agency of Education and the Vermont Department of Health.   
 

Is your child Positive for COVID-19?

It is recommended that you report to your school nurse.

Families are also strongly encouraged to report positive cases using the Vermont Department of Health Self-Test Result Reporting Form

Staying Home When Sick

If any of these symptoms are present, it is important that all staff, students, and faculty members stay home.

This is recommended for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals:

❏ Fever of 100.4 or greater
❏ Cough
❏ Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
❏ Chills or repeated shaking with chills
❏ Sore throat
❏ New loss of taste or smell
❏ Significant rash, with other symptoms on this list
❏ Runny nose
❏ Stomach ache, nausea, vomiting
❏ Diarrhea
