About Me

I am a father and a husband. I’m a lover of music, history, film, literature, nature, activism, democracy, and all things that celebrate life. I graduated Keene State College in Keene, NH with a B.A. in Film Production in 1997, and completed my Masters in Middle Level Teaching and Curriculum at the University of Vermont in 2009. I interned at Williston Central School and last year was my first year teaching in Milton. It was awsome! Working alongside the Milton faculty, administration, students, and families is an honor and a pleasure. My content areas are Language Arts and Social Studies.

My philosophy of education is built upon connecting adolescents with each other, the community, and the larger world in as many positive ways as possible. I am a huge fan of technology when used in respectful, purposeful ways in order to create meaningful experiences amongst our students. I believe that adolescence can be a rocky road for many, but that road can be significantly smoother if we support each other in a democratic classroom. Tom Keblin, Tim Scott, and I believe that parents are a tremendous resource. We look forward to nurturing a team of learners who utilize the tools of the 21st century, the support and guidance from their families, and the reality that each and every one of us is capable of remarkable things in this world.

About Language Arts and Social Studies for Team Helios

This year we will be integrating at times all subject areas in order to support and foster a deeper understanding of global studies. This year students will embark on a journey across the globe to uncover such concepts as world geography, globalization, modern ecomomics, immigration, modern literature, as well as the science and technology that shape our civilizations.

Throughout our studies, we will continue to use literature as the most effective form of human connection. Through authentic writing projects connecting students to modern issues, as well as an exciting que of literature to be convered this year, our aim is to immerse Helios with a global perspective.
