Name: Joanna Scott Residence: Milton, VT Status: Married to my husband of two years. We have two lovable dogs- Moose and Jethro! College: Undergraduate Degree achieved at Johnson & Wales University Providence, RI. I am currently taking classes at UVM to further my education. My Route to Teaching: I am fairly new to the teaching world…Three years ago I started making strides to switch careers and become a teacher. I am a certified 5-12 Family and Consumer Science teacher. I am working on my endorsement for Health certification and a Masters in Education. For the last 12 years I had a successful career in the Hospitality Industry. I worked in many avenues of hospitality including special event planning, advertising/marketing consulting, restaurant management and country club management. Other Facts: Enjoy all different music, but country and classic rock is always on my ipod. I am very crafty, I like to sew and make crafts. I enjoy watching football- Go Colts! I love to cook for family and friends, I love Indian and Mediterranean cuisine. I enjoy traveling to new places and meeting new people. My husband is a big movie buff! I usually see every new release. I enjoy romantic comedies and action movies. I love <3 coffee! I am pretty willing to try anything once. What I like to do on my days off: On my days off I enjoy catching up with family and friends, working in my garden and flower beds. I am always taking my dogs for hikes around local parks and hiking trails. During the summer I can often be found on the shores of Lake Champlain swimming and joy riding on my jet ski. During the winter I enjoy skiing and snowshoeing. I enjoy taking time out to help others and volunteer; I currently teach senior citizen cooking classes, I have in the past built homes for Habitat for Humanity, last year I worked on Milton Girls’ Day with the MYCC, drove for Meals on Wheels, and have spent time volunteering with many other community related causes. |
