Introduction to Information Technology 1/2 UNIT OF CREDIT
This course will provide students with an integrated approach to
information technology using an entrepreneurial theme throughout the course. Students
will apply the skills and knowledge learned by doing in-class exercises and
projects based on their business simulation.
A procedure writing assignment will be completed for the student’s
writing portfolio based on a skill learned from class relating to technology. The goal for the class is for students to
become proficient in technology use to meet the changing needs of today’s technological
world. RECOMMENDATION: Completion of Keyboarding I at junior high or
high school level.

Course
Expectations:
The students are expected to come to class on time, to demonstrate good attitude and respectful, courteous behavior, to work diligently in class, to keep up with class assignments. Students will maintain a portfolio of their work in the classroom. All equipment and materials will remain in the classroom.

Evaluation:
The students will be evaluated according to the quality of their work, completion of assignments and employability skills. Class projects/assignments will count as 90% of the grade and assessments given at the completion of each unit will count as 10%.
Assessments are given to measure student knowledge and progress. Immediate feedback will be given for the opportunity to improve. Assessments will include a variety of projects and a final portfolio representing course content. Occasional assignments to be done outside of class may be given in order to prepare for future projects.
Makeup Work: The student has the responsibility of seeing the teacher to arrange makeup work within the timeframe allotted for absence. If there are extenuating circumstances, the teacher and the student will work out a solution.
Absenteeism and Tardiness: The administrative policy as stated in the student handbook. Students must obtain an excused/unexcused admission pass from the office before return to class from an absence.
Teacher Office Hours:
I am available to meet with students for extra help after school Tuesday through Thursday promptly at 2:45 p.m. by appointment or during my preparation period during the school day. Students are welcome to use the lab during study hall to practice or make up work if there is an available seat and the student has permission from teacher occupying the lab.
