Hood Sportsman Scholarship
If you have a 3.0 GPA, played varsity athletics and volunteered in the community, you could be eligible for a $5,000 scholarship from Hood Milk. Deadline is February 1, 2012. Go to hood.com for more information.

Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship
The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund offers 4-year renewable scholarships to students who demonstrate financial need, community service and a strong work ethic. Scholarships are between $3,000 - $10,000. Go to www.phillips-scholarship.org for detailed info about applying. The deadline is May 1st, 2012.

The Harold J. Howrigan, Sr. Scholarship
This scholarship was formed in memory of Harold J. Howrigan, Sr. who was a lifelong dairy farmer, maple producer and leader in the dairy industry at the local, state, regional and national levels. 2012 is the third year in which we award scholarship(s) annually based on merit through a competitive process to students pursuing higher education who reside in northern Vermont with preference given to residents of Fairfield, Vermont and to those students pursuing degrees in agriculture, forestry and/or closely related fields. We will solicit applications for our review and awarding of funds to further our goal of grooming future leaders in agriculture. Applications will be reviewed and recipients selected by the Board of Directors based on merit as shown by:

1. thorough completion of the application;
2. compliance with our stated higher education goals and/or leadership development skills;
3. academics;
4. demonstration of leadership; and
5. with preference as stated above.

We anticipate awarding at least two (2) scholarships of up to $500 each dependent upon the quality of applicants and available funding. Please come to the Guidance Office for the application.

KFC Colonel Scholars Program
Kentucky Fried Chicken is once again offering the KFC Scholarship. If you have a 2.75 GPA, are enrolling in a public college within Vermont and demonstrate financial need, go to www.kfcscholars.org to register between 12/1/11 and 2/8/2012.

Colchester Lions Speak Out Contest
Milton High School juniors and seniors can participate in a public speaking contest put on by the Colchester Lions Club. The deadline to sign up is January 25th and the date of the contest is February 1st. Cash prizes worth up to $150. Please see your guidance counselor for the paperwork and details.

Burger King BK Scholars Program
Win up to $50,000 for college from Burger King. Go to www.haveityourwayfoundation.org/bksp_scholarship_eligibility.html. The deadline to apply is January 10th.

Georgia Conservation Commission Scholarship Application
This $500 scholarship will be awarded to a member of the graduating class who is a resident of the Town of Georgia; and is planning to attend a post-secondary school majoring in a field of conservation, environmental studies or ecology. If a student has a lifelong avocation for conservation that has been demonstrated by participation in community service work such as tree plantings, lakeshore restoration, or watershed association projects, they will be considered for the scholarship if their college major choice is not in the field of environmental studies.

The applicant must plan to attend a college or university in September of the current year. A college acceptance letter must be received prior to presentation of the scholarship.

The American Legion offers many opportunities for students to win various scholarships. Go to vtlegion.org for details.

Price Chopper Golub Scholarship
Price Chopper offers ten scholarships to students in the New England area. Visit www2.pricechopper.com/scholarships to download the application. The deadline to apply is March 15th, 2012.

Vermont Grocers Association Scholarship
There are several scholarships being offered from the Vermont Grocers Association. Please email Donna Hogan at donna@vtgrocers.org to get the application. Students must work for a grocery store that is a member of the VGA to be eligible. See the flyer in the guidance office for more information. Deadline is April 30th, 2012.

Alice Agney Scholarship
In 2012, the Vermont Superintendents Association will award one $1,000 Alice Angney Scholarship to a deserving Vermont high school senior. The recipient will be chosen by a VSA selection committee on the basis of the student’s leadership and service to his or her community, academic achievement, and initiative in overcoming a specific challenge. The recipient will demonstrate a commitment to furthering his or her education after high school. The deadline to apply is March 23rd. Please come to guidance for the application -- there is no on-line application.

NEFCU Scholarship
New England Federal Credit Union will be offering (3) $3,000 scholarships to students entering an undergraduate nursing program. Applicants or their parents must be NEFCU members. The deadline is February 29. The application can be found online at nefcu.com.

Vermont Golf Association Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship for a Vermont senior who has an 80% average in high school and a minimum of 1,500 total on the SAT. Financial need, scholarship, and must have a connection to the game of golf. Deadline is April 20th. Visit vtga.org/scholarshipapp.htm for more information.

University Mall 2012 Scholarship
The University Mall is giving away $25,000 to 5 area high school students. Academics, leadership and community service are important to win this scholarship. Go to www.umallvt.com for the application and further details. The deadline is March 30, 2012.
