The Milton High School Guidance Office offers all students a comprehensive counseling service that addresses school & personal issues, academic advisement, and career/college planning. Individual, group and classroom guidance are used to address students varying needs.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR SENIORS & PARENTS
Senior Prom....May 25th 8pm at 12 am, Echo Center
Exam Day for Seniors..... June 6th
Make up exam day for Seniors..... June 9th
Senior Awards Night....June 9 at 7 pm
Senior Class Trip...June 11th, Six Flags Amusement Park, Agawan, Mass.
Graduation Rehearsal..... June 12th at 10 am--Caps and Gowns will be handed out at this time, and rehearsal usually last around 2.5 hours. The charge for caps and gowns is $18.
Graduation Day...June 14sth at 10am. Seniors should be in the cafeteria by 9:15 am.
Seniors! It's very important that you look over your high school transcript to make sure you have the necessary graduation requirements.
Every Student needs the following to graduate:
4 English credits, 3.5 History credits, 3 Science credits, 3 Math credits, 1 Heath credit, 1. 5 Physical Education credits, 1 Fine Arts credit, .5 Computer/Keyboarding credits, .5 Community Service credits.

There are several local, regional, and national agencies that offer scholarships to current seniors. Students and Parents should watch the guidance bulletin board in room 272, listen to the P.A. announcements, and read the Milton Independent and the "Buzz" for current scholarship information. Financial Aid
FAFSA Form... This application must be filled out to receive any financial aid from the federal government. The forms can be found at www.fafsa.edu.gov . A workbook to help you apply on-line can be picked up in the main office at the high school.
The Vermont Grant Application packet... now available for pick up. I will be handing out the packets to students on December 20th. This important packet must be completed to be eligible for finacial aid from the state of Vermont. Although the packets are available now, you cannot fill them out until January 1st.
Vermont Unified Scholarship Booklet.... A comprehensive guide to scholarships given out by the state of Vermont. Students and parents can look throught the packet to see which scholarships they can apply for, and fill out the application packet which is also enclosed. These can also be picked up in the main office of the high school. |

Corps |
Crews of members work on watershed restoration
and trail maintenance. There are both day crews and
residential programs. |
Any Vermont resident between 16-21 years of age. |
Applications in by winter amd interviews are
during April and May. |

VSAC Talent Search |
VSAC counselors works with students throughout
high school to help them with career decisions,
college selections, and financial aid. |
Students can qualify if they are first
generation college, or low income. Students must
have a desire to attend college. |
Have your guidance counselor fill out a
recommendation form and then the VSAC rep will setup
an interview. |

Upward Bound |
Upward Bound offers a free 6 week summer program
at Johnson State College and opportunities to visit
college campuses. |
Any 9th
or 10th
grader whose parents do not have a 4 year college
degree or who earn a modest income. |

Boys and Girls State |
Students attend a one week summer program at a
college campus to learn the fundamentals of
governmental process. |
Offered to students who have completed their
junior year of high school. Chosen based on
characteristics of leadership, responsibility, and
integrity. (Students who are interested in Boys and
Girls state should be active and involved in school
and community activities.) |

Governor's Institute of
Vermont |
Governor's Institute of Vermont has
programs in the Arts, Asian Cultures, Public Issues,
Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer
Sciences. Governor's Institute of Vermont has winter
weekend programs and 1 and 2 week summer programs. |
Open to all high school students who
want to experience a hands on approach in one of
Vermont's most exciting programs for high school
students. |
