Hello everyone! My work as a vocalist, pianist, and actor is evident in my classroom. I approach the curriculum from a Performing Arts point of view. As a result, students are not only introduced to history, theory, and notation, but they also get to sing, act, move, and play instruments. I love to travel and have studied in Brazil (Fulbright-Hays); and later in Japan (Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund). I bring these experiences into general and choral music as we explore a variety cultures. I also believe that a positive social/behavioral climate is crucial to learning and have attended the Responsive Classroom institute. I have taught in grades K-12 and at the university level. I teach general music, choral music, piano, and theater. I have recently completed my Master’s degree in Arts Education from Saint Michael’s college. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education; a two year degree in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance and another in Liberal Studies. Now that I am done with my degree program, I look forward to joining a Gospel choir, acting again, and returning to kick-boxing! |
