My host family did not tell me where we were going. They drove me through the countryside of Uji. Eventually, we came to a small parking lot in a rural area. At first, we walked to a small, but nicely done visitor center with a shop and cafeteria. We walked on and moved toward a tunnel large enough for vehicles to walk through. The only vehicles were electric cars.
When we emerged on the other side, we saw a striking suspension bridge. From the bridge we could see the fall foliage from the mountainside. Straight ahead was an interesting building of glass and geometric structures.

When inside, we saw that the museum was built on the side of a mountain and much larger than it appeared. The museum was filled with ancient artifacts from from around the world . There was a room about ancient Greece, Rome, Iraq, and there was a special traveling exhibit about ancient South American civilizations.
The Miho was truly a hidden treasure in the mountains.
