Daily Schedule

Welcome to Kindergarten in Mrs. King's class at Milton Elementary School in Milton, Vermont.  My students attend kindergarten in a full day program. 

Here we are on our second day of kindergarten.  Mrs. King's class now has 18 students.  Welcome Caiden to our class.  We are eager to explore and have fun this year.

We have a student teacher from the University of Vermont working with us this semester.  Her name is Miss Phalon.  She will be working in our classroom on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Social Skills

Our school is implementing PBIS - Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. Our focus for the month is to review the School-wide expectations - ABC's.

Literacy

Our theme this week in Literacy is:  Sunshine and Raindrops

Skills we are learning:  learning to blend sounds to make words

We are learning about word families. 

The new letters we are learning this week are:  We have learned all of our letters and will continue to review them.

Math

Math concepts we are working on this week are:

Calendar Math

 

Students are practicing many different math concepts during this time including:  days of the week, place value, recognizing numerals and more!

Counting

 

Students will be learning to count to 50 or higher - really focusing on teen numbers

 

Students are practicing how to count back from 15

 

Place Value

 

We are learning to build numbers with tens and ones. 

Numeral Writing

We are working on writing numerals from 0 - 50 correctly.  (Some children are writing numerals to 100 or more.  Keep up the good work!)

Recording Data

We have been recording data in different ways.  We are making bar graphs, tally charts and sorting to gather information about things.

Special Activities 

We went to Hackett's Apple Orchard in September.  Mother Nature finally agreed to cooperate so we could go!

We went to Mazza's Pumpkin Patch.  We had a lot of fun!
We went to The Flynn Theater on January 25th to see Duck for President and other stories.  We had a lot of fun! We celebrated our 100th day of school on Thursday, February 9th.  We did a lot of counting and shared our 100 projects.

Reminders!

Parent conferences will be held during the week of February 20th.   

There is no school for students during the week of February 27th through March 6th.  School will resume on Wednesday, March 7th.
