Mathletics

The Mathletics program is in addition to math instruction in the classroom.  This program is activity based and designed to develop numeracy and other math skills.  Numeracy is the foundation for all other areas of mathematics.  Students are involved in hands-on activities or stations that build a foundation for number sense.  Through intensive, purposeful instruction, students become more flexible in their thinking, more confident in their abilities, and use a variety of strategies to solve problems.

Two teachers and a para-educator work with students in the Math Lab. The program runs in 8-week sessions.  There are 4 sessions per year.  Each session consists of 3 or 4 different grade levels, with about 15 students in each class.  Students are seen 4 days per week for 45 minutes per day.
