Welcome to the new and
improved Milton Elementary School website! Milton Elementary
currently serves approximately 1000 students in grades Pre-K through
6. We currently have an average of 7 teachers per grade level.
Class sizes average 17 students per class in grades K-3, and 22 per
class in grades 5-6.
At Milton Elementary
School we believe it is important for all members of our school
community to work together to create and nurture a safe, welcoming
school environment where all students can achieve success by meeting
or exceeding their potential. We are very proud of our dedicated
faculty and staff who demonstrate their commitment time and again to
our Milton students in a variety of ways toward this end.
We continue to be a school
that has been identified through the No Child Left Behind Act as not
meeting adequate yearly progress (AYP) goals in reading and math.
Over the past two years, we have been working to develop a stable
and efficient system to support all students in achieving the
defined high expectations in student learning. This has included
the adoption and implementation of the Houghton Mifflin core reading
program, and the implementation of the Mathletics math intervention
program. We have also continued our collaboration project with the
University of Vermont’s Bridging Project consultants to further our
professional development in the area of literacy instruction. We
will continue with these supports as we engage in our work and
strive to raise the levels of student achievement for all.
We
believe strongly that we need to work collaboratively and
cooperatively to improve the school community. It is through this
shared responsibility that all students of MES will continue to grow
and develop. We are cognizant that as your child's first and most
important teacher you have the right and responsibility to actively
participate in your child's education. Please contact us should you
have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress or
experiences at Milton Elementary. Our office doors are always open.
We look forward to working with you in the best interest of your
child's education. |

I began my career in Education some forty years ago. I enjoy
helping children acquire the skills and knowledge that will help
them become happy and productive contributing citizens.
I was born in British Columbia, Canada and came to the United States
during World War II. I arrived in the U.S. by train coming through
St. Albans.
I attended Catholic schools from first grade through High School. I
graduated from UVM with a degree in Elementary Education and two
Masters degrees in Administration and Planning.
I have worked in schools in Burlington, St. Albans, Colchester and
here in Milton. This is my 24th year in Milton having both having
been an administrator as well as a teacher.
