Try science that gets your child bubbling over
Here’s an activity will help your child learn without realizing it: Mix eight tablespoons of dishwashing liquid with a quart of water. Pour the mixture into a shallow tray. Let your child blow through a straw to create bubbles, then touch a bubble with a dry finger. What happens? Have him try again with a wet finger. What happens this time?

Does your child have a hobby?
Hobbies can build children’s persistence, responsibility and even financial skills. Even if you aren’t interested in stamp collecting, knitting or comic books, encourage your child’s interest. Tell her you admire her dedication and interest in learning new things. But don’t overload her with supplies when she mentions a new interest. Supply a few things to get her started. You can add more later.
