What's Happening
Math

This week will begin working on coins, pennies and nickels. We will examine both of them and work on counting combinations of the coins. We will also work on number stories and writing number models to go with them.

Literacy

 The children will be working in stations to practice and learn literacy skills and concepts. Students will work in reading groups to practice their reading strategies. Other stations will include writing, computer, phonics, listening, phonemic awareness.

Literacy

Literacy Block begins at 9:30am and generally ends at 11:30am. It is an uninterrupted period of time in which students work on Literacy. Following is how the block is broken up:

  We begin with a 20-30 minute whole group lesson.

The children are then broken up into 4 stations. Each station is about 20 minutes long.

The stations include:

Reading Group

Lexia (Phonics computer program), Microsoft Word (word processing program) or Paint program

Writing or word play

Listening Center or Silent Reading
