Introduction

The State of Vermont has many different species of animals. Some of these animals are mammals. Mammals have certain characteristics and behaviors. Do you know what three Vermont animals are true hibernators? What animals are active or dormant? It will be fun to learn more about the animals that live in our state. From this point forward you and a partner will travel around the state with Ranger Rick (shown in the picture above) and get to know an animal . The goal of this WebQuest is to become an expert on your animal, share your knowledge with your classmates, and report your findings on the Channel 2 Expedition News. Use the Websites in the resource section to help gather information for your news report interview.

The Task

Your task is to become an expert on one Vermont animal. You will work with your partner to research facts and create a report about your animal using this WebQuest. Ranger Rick will interview you on the Channel 2 Expedition News and ask questions concerning the animal you studied . You may dress up like your animal, use props and visual materials that will better explain your information. These presentations will be video taped on the "Ranger Rick Show".
