The Beluga

The Beluga whale is the white whale. He lives in the icy cold waters of the Arctic. He is also called the "sea canary" because he sounds like a bird. The loud chirps made by the beluga come from his blowhole .

The sounds he sends off (echolocation) help him navigate under the ice, figure out where there are air holes, and find food.

In the wild belugas spit water to turn up food from the bottom of the ocean.
