Poof! Your
time capsule has just landed in England. The glowing date
panel is flashing the year, "1000".
Looking out the porthole you see that you have landed
outside a huge castle. You are about to begin the Castle
Quest. By
participating in this quest, you will earn a ticket to the
Medieval Feast. To earn your ticket, you will need to
discover what life was like 1,000 years ago. You will need
to enter the castle and gather information. One word of
advice, beware of dragons!
|
To complete your quest, you will have to accomplish the following: You will be making a puppet that will represent a person who lived during Medieval Times. You must clothe your Puppet Castle Character in an outfit that was appropriate for them during Medieval Times.
Write a short speech for your Puppet Castle Character to present at the feast. Your puppet will be telling about what their life was like during Medieval Times.
Design an authentic Coat of Arms to hang on the wall at our feast.

1. Medieval knights were always courteous and helpful. Click on the knight when you need help, or when you want more information. Go ahead, click on me and see what happens! 2. Whenever you see words that are underlined, it means they are "hot". Usually they will be blue. When you click on anything "hot", it will take you someplace else. 3. Ask a grown-up to show you the back button on the computer. When you are at an Internet site and want to get back to CastleQuest, use the back button. |

1. Open your scroll and discover what castle character you will be researching. 2. Explore the Internet links to find out about your character. These sites are listed under RESOURCES. 3. As you journey, DON'T FORGET TO TAKE NOTES AND DRAW PICTURES. This is so you have a record of what you found. 4. Make a drawing of the clothes your character would wear. You will use this drawing to design your puppet's outfit. 5. You will be writing your speech at home. When you are done, practice it in front of your parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, or anyone else who is willing to listen to you! Remember to speak slowly, loudly and clearly. 6. Using the Primer of Blazonry Internet site and the Coat of Arms worksheets I have given you, draw some Coat of Arms. Find a design you are happy with. You will be using your drawing as a guide when you paint your large Coat of Arms. |
