HURRICANE

TRACKING & PLOTTING

1) Read about how scientist TRACK HURRICANES.

2) To obtain a NOAA TRACKING CHART visit this site or ask your teacher for a copy. Try the USA TODAY copy.

3) Practice your plotting skills by completing all of the Hurricane TRACKING ACTIVITIES. A finished copy of the activities must be included in your portfolio.

4) Complete the BIRTHDAY ACTIVITY . Click on Archive 1886-1998. Click on the hot text number next to the icon for the year you were born. Scroll down the page and look for the worst hurricane that year and click "Details" for the hurricane. Using latitude and longitude numbers, plot the path of the storm when it was classified as a hurricane on your hurricane tracking chart. Connect the plotted points to show the path of the hurricane.
