CAREER OPPORTUNITIES!


If you enjoy everything from watching clouds to tracking hurricanes, then maybe Meteorology or Climatology is the career for you.

Meteorologists, Climatologists, and Hydrologists can be found all over the world doing some very interesting things! They conduct research, study the ozone or air pollution, brief pilots at a busy airfields and make weather observations in Antarctica. Meteorologist might analyze numerical models or fly in aircraft investigating hurricanes. Weather is WORLD-WIDE and so are weather people!

 

The basic requirement for becoming a Meteorologist or Climatologist is a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences. Some research, teaching, or management positions require a Masters of Science Degree or a Ph.D.

1] Define METEOROLOGIST and CLIMATOLOGIST.

3] Read the questions that some people have about careers in Meteorology. Do you have any questions for JACK? List 5 questions that "Jack" had to answer. Include a summary of his answers after each question that you list.

4] Do women work as Meteorologist?  Explain your answer.

 

5] If you had to choose a career in Meteorology, exactly what line of work would you enjoy the most? Write a cover letter to a potential employer explaining why you would like a particular job. Place a copy of this letter in your Hurricane Portfolio.
