The Suggested Process for Person Research

1. Narrow down the person[s] you are going to research from the large available American Revolution Persons List available to see if you CLICK HERE

When you decide on a few persons to research, you should keep in mind that:

        a. the person should have done something important that affected the outcome of a particular battle or other event in the American Revolution ;

        b. the event or battle the person was in should have had an important effect on the entire American Revolution;  and..

        c. the person is not one of the most famous people in the American Revolution already, like George Washington or Ben Franklin.

2. Now you must satisfy certain research information requirements. So, you will be looking for places to find that information on your person[s].

        When you look at the large list of American Revolution persons, those names that appear in blue are linked to a page with one or more links about them displayed.

        Those names that appear in black have no links page for them. There are suggested search engines available at the bottom of the American Revolution Persons List page to use for research on these people. Click on the Google symbol to go see these suggested search engines.

This what you will need to find out:

You must think about the following considerations when choosing the persons you will research:

     a. they did something that really affected the outcome of an event in the war

    b. that event was important in affecting the outcome of the war

    c. the person is not one of the person we always, ALWAYS, hear about, like George Washington

     d. in addition to the information in b. and c., you should try to find some other interesting, entertaining facts about this person

REMEMBER - ANOTHER STUDENT FROM YOUR TEAM WILL RESEARCH PARTS b. AND c. - THE PARTS ABOUT THE EVENT. IT IS A TEAM EFFORT !

There will be an available form you can access in this web quest, print out, and make copies of in order to put down your information in an organized fashion and not do any wasteful, unnecessary work. CLICK HERE to see this form.

 3. You also must use this person's information to come up with a good reason or reasons as to why the sponsors might want to choose this person as the one to feature in the memorial. These thoughts will be used later to help someone write a persuasive piece to "sell" that Revolutionary War person as the one who should be featured in the memorial.

Here is an example of what I am asking for. Click on this line to see it.

4. You should keep you filled out research forms. along with those others on the team have do, in a folder. I would suggest someone be in charge of this folder and that they keep the forms in alphabetical order.
