DOING THE JOBS IN THE FINAL SELECTION MEETING
CLICK ON THE NAME OF THE JOB TO VIEW SUGGESTIONS
| SELECTION MEETING MODERATOR | SELECTION MEETING RECORDER | SELECTION MEETING VOTER |

The selection meeting is held only after:
a. all of the research is done
b. the narrowing down process has already been completed
c. your team has only two or three finalists left
The moderator's job is simply to keep the meeting in some order, so that people take turns talking. The team members, including the moderator, should bring up information and reasons as to why they think a particular person should be decided upon as the team's final suggestion for who will be featured in the American Revolution memorial.
The team needs to have their presentation well in hand because they will be competing against the other teams to have their selection chosen by the "sponsor" [which is actually a panel of students from some other classroom who will be influenced by how convincing your team's presentation is].
Moderator, it is your job to keep things organized. That means:
a. people take turns talking
b. someone is writing down notes from the discussion
c. the meeting does not last too long or get over too quickly

The selection meeting recorder is certainly allowed to also participate and give his or her opinions on the final team selection. The recorder will simply write down what goes on in the meeting. This is important to EVERYONE because the team members gain or loss credit towards their final grade, depending on how well records are kept during the whole web quest process.
The selection meeting recorder has the following responsibilities:
a. write down certain information during the meeting. CLICK HERE for a printable form that will guide you in what to write down
b. report the team's final decision on their person selected to the teacher
c. keep track of any notes team members bring to the selection meeting that might help with the final presentation to the sponsor panel

Everyone on the team is a selection meeting voter. The students who are not the moderator or recorder have a bigger responsibility to add to the discussion before the final vote. Remember that how your team does in selling your final selection to the sponsor panel has much to do with you final grades.
Also, working together, cooperating, and participating have a lot to do with your grades, not just being a good team member. Remember, voters, the recorder will be keeping loose track of how often YOU add something positive to the discussion. Therefore participation comments such as "that's stupid", " this sucks", or "I ain't saying nothin'" aren't going to get you much credit.
When you have successfully completed the final selection meeting, you will know what person you are proposing to the sponsors' panel and why this person is such a good choice. All you will have left to do is then figure HOW to present your choice to the panel.
