Milton Town School District

Procedure for Closing School

The Superintendent considers the safety of students and staff each time the weather is reported to be hazardous.  Mr. Waldron watches the weather forecast the night before, gets up at 5:00 AM to review current weather forecasts, observes the actual weather and speaks with the Milton Highway Superintendent, Dave Antone.  Based on that conversation he may also call the transportation company and the police department to get a report on Milton road conditions.  If Mr. Waldron is advised that the roads are not safe for buses to run or if conditions would improve with a delay, then he takes that advice.   He makes a decision to cancel or delay school no later than 5:40 AM and communicates that decision to those individuals who initiate reports to the media.
