The concept of Project Graduation started approximately 20 years ago, in Maine, after seven students lost their lives on graduation night in an alcohol/drug-related accident. Graduates often "party hop" in their efforts to celebrate with as many of their classmates as possible. Project Graduation is an all-night, alcohol and drug free celebration that provides a safe alternative to party hopping. It keeps all of the graduates off from the roads, prevents any of them from becoming an accident static and allows their parents to rest easy knowing their son/daughter is safely celebrating. The emphasis of the night is on fun and saving lives.
What is Project Graduation?
Project Graduation is a drug and alcohol-free, supervised, all-night event for graduating students. Emphasis of the night is on fun, the true meaning of saving lives. We try to give them a good time and more importantly a safe night. This is the last social event the seniors can be with their classmates in an all night celebration with a variety of activities including inflatable games, hypnotist show, and more. Food is served throughout the night and breakfast. It is organized and funded by the parents along with a lot of community help. ALL PARENTS are welcome to help.
What does the Project Graduation committee do?
Raise money through various fundraisers throughout the year. We solicit donations from businesses in the community. We get many donations of money, gifts for the prizes, food and gift certificates. Volunteer opportunities include serving on any of the committees (prize/buying, food, fundraising, entertainment, Spirit Night, and community donation). If you have a special talent or skill, let us know how you’d like to help. If you are unable to volunteer your time, or serving on a committee isn't your thing, then we hope you will consider making a cash donation. Each year project graduation costs between $15,000 and $20,000 to put on. We know parents have busy lives, but we encourage you to make a tax-deductible donation to help out with Project Graduation.
2007 PROJECT GRADUATION OFFICERS
The following are committees that will need to be formed in order for Project Graduation to be a success. Please take the time to look these over and consider signing up for one or more of them.
